Taking the First Steps Together on a Journey from Awareness to Flourishing
If you’re craving a kinder rhythm to practise in — one that strengthens care and the people who give it — this is for you.
The Four Seasons of Learning is a year-long online programme for health professionals working across the system and at all stages of their careers.
The programme is divided into four seasons, each focusing on themes inspired by nature’s cycles — from slowing down and letting go, to renewal and growth.
We move with the rhythm of the seasons — slowing down, reflecting, and growing in our own time. Each small step becomes part of a wider cycle of change.
This structure makes the content both meaningful and manageable, guiding us on a journey from awareness to flourishing, and helping to reimagine a whole-person NHS built on safety, connection, and compassion.
How It Works
Learning Materials:
Each season includes around one hour of core online content, released on the first day of the season, alongside a menu of practical tools and resources that invite you to explore each theme in more depth — at your own pace and in your own way.
Live Meetings:
Join one live evening per season (Wednesdays, 7:30–8:45 pm via Zoom, not recorded), co-hosted by Dr Kath Jones and Dr Jo Hacking.
Dates: 12 November · 11 February · 20 May · 23 September Approx. 2–3 hours/month; trackable CPD.
This Autumn
In this first module, we explore themes of awareness and letting go through three key areas:
The many parts of ourselves — drawing on Internal Family Systems to understand our inner patterns.
The science of safety — exploring Polyvagal Theory and Predictive Coding to make sense of stress and protection.
The therapeutic relationship — using The Drama Triangle and The Empowerment Dynamic to move from rescuing to resourcing.
These ideas come together to help us notice what drains and keep what helps — finding one small change to lighten the load.
What You’ll Leave With
- A set of simple, evidence-based tools you can use tomorrow.
- Greater ease in offering right-sized, whole-person care — less firefighting, more meaning.
- A supportive community of practice and renewed confidence in your work.
The Seasons Ahead
Winter: Transformation & Self-Compassion — nervous-system steadiness, boundaries, and kinder ways to respond.
Spring: Creativity & Reimagining — clearer explanations, new approaches to complexity, small tests of change.
Summer: Celebration & Sustaining — harvest what worked, share it, and plan how to keep it going.
Who It’s For
GPs, nurses, AHPs, pharmacists, psychologists, social prescribers, third-sector practitioners, coaches, educators, trainees, and students — inside or outside the NHS.
