Winter - The Four Seasons of Learning

A Season for Transformation & Self-Compassion

Taking the Next Steps Together on a Journey from Compassion to Transformation

If you’re ready to deepen your practice — finding steadiness, clarity, and kindness in how you respond to yourself and others — this is for you.

The Four Seasons of Learning is a year-long online programme for health professionals working across the system and at all stages of their careers.

The programme is divided into four seasons, each focusing on themes inspired by nature’s cycles — from slowing down and letting go, to renewal and growth.  We move with the rhythm of the seasons — slowing down, reflecting, and growing in our own time.

Each small step becomes part of a wider cycle of change.  This structure makes the content both meaningful and manageable, guiding us on a journey from compassion to transformation, and helping to reimagine a whole-person NHS built on safety, connection, and care.

How It Works

Learning Materials: Each season includes around one hour of core online content, released on the first day of the season, alongside a menu of practical tools and resources that invite you to explore each theme in more depth — at your own pace and in your own way.
Live Meetings: Join one live evening per season (Wednesdays, 7:30–8:45 pm via Zoom, not recorded), co-hosted by Dr Kath Jones and Dr Jo Hacking. Dates: 12 November · 11 February · 20 May · 23 September .

This Winter

In this second module, we explore themes of compassion and transformation through three key areas:

The Science of Neuroplasticity — understanding how the brain and body change with experience, and what this means for recovery and resilience. Changing the Dance: From Heartsink to Healing — transforming patterns of frustration or fatigue into curiosity, connection, and hope.
A Roadmap to Sustainable Practice — practical steps to nurture steadiness, boundaries, and belonging in everyday work.

These ideas come together to help you strengthen compassion without depletion — cultivating greater steadiness, self-awareness, and a sustainable rhythm of care.

Winter Live Meeting 11 February · 7:30–8:45 pm via Zoom · Not recorded Co-hosted by Dr Kath Jones and Dr Jo Hacking, this interactive session offers a chance to connect with like-minded colleagues and reflect on the themes of the season — noticing what has resonated with you and how these ideas are shaping your practice.
